Maritime Studies Practicum
Purpose
This 12-week practicum is to take the lessons learned in the University of the Nations Maritime Academy courses and put them into practice onboard one of the vessels in our Partnership Fleet. This practicum is primarily practical work, with a continued structure of discipleship and training.
Certifications obtained:
Through practicums, one can gain sea-service time and a variety of experience with different vessels.
Depending on what course(s) you have taken prior, upon completion of this practicum (with sea-service logged), you may be able to apply or sit an exam for your next certification.
Prerequisites
- Valid STCW Basic Training certificate
- YWAM Discipleship Training School (DTS) Certificate
- Marine Safety and Seamanship course, Marine Engineering Foundations course, or further training
